Week's Work

 Hello Readers,

This week we had a bunch of activities, we got to choose a couple and do them, one of the ones I did was ordering a burger in Maori, I made an animation on slides, I put the translation on the second slide and then the animation starts on the third slide.

Here's the slide-

I also made a  slide for literacy where I had to explain 9 different film
shots from a scene of our choice, I chose a scene from Stranger Things, the scene with Joyce
and the Christmas lights to be more specific.

Here is the slide I made-

Chocolate Boxes

 Hello Readers,

On Tuesday for math we were given a couple of biscuits, pieces of candy or chocolates and we each had to create a box to put whatever we had got inside, I got three mini Cadbury bars, we first had to make a net of the shape we were wanting to create, I decided I wanted to make mine a triangle box that would fit a slightly smaller triangle inside that slides out with the chocolates inside.

There was a couple of things that our packaging needed to have, the box needed to fit correctly for the product so that it does not move around too much and the box needed to have a lid or close, when I put my box together it was able to close and it fit the chocolates inside quite well, there's a bit of room left over but they don't seem to move very much, Here's a picture of the box-

What is your favorite chocolate?

The penguin is named Percy, he will be put in town, he has a New Zealand themed cloak that looks like patchwork, we painted things like a kiwi, a fantail, the longest drink in town, a koru, a poi, the bee toy and many more! We also painted jandals on his feet because those are very kiwi.

Python Coding

 Hello Readers,

last Wednesday and today we  have been creating an interactive PSA using python coding, I created mine to spread the message of washing and sanitizing your hands because the message is particularly important in these times, the sprite spins onto the screen and says "Wash and sanitize your hands!" when you click on it, it says "Please wash or sanitize, It only takes 30 seconds to do" and bubbles floating to the top of the screen, since I cant let other people view it here are some screenshots

That's all for this post, Do you know how Python coding works? bye!

Hello Bloggers,
last week for numeracy we have been learning about coordinates, Here's something we did to show our understanding
For Literacy we made wrote a story in a Dr. Seuss Writing style containing at least two different rhymes, here's what I wrote

There once was a pig named Fig,

Fig was a big pig,

Fig liked to dig,

One day Fig dug a big hole in the garden,

He met a worm named Wig,

“Hello there” Fig said to Wig

“Why must you intrude?” asked the tiny slimy creature named Wig

“Oh I'm terribly sorry” Fig apologized to Wig

Fig put an end to his dig,

He called it a day and sat by the bay

Aurora Australis

Hello Readers,

Today we have been making  art of the Southern Lights\Aurora Australis, an Aurora is a display of lights in the sky, They are usually green but can be red or blue, Auroras are made by high energy particles from the sun that come down to earth, as they come closer they interact with with our planets magnetic field, the magnetic field pushes them toward the south and north magnetic poles.
We made our art by ripping some paper to look like a mountain range then we stuck it onto a black piece of paper, we flicked white paint onto the black paper by using a paint brush to make it look like stars, once the paint dried we got chalk pastels and coloured the ripped piece of paper and then smudged it onto the black piece of paper so you could see the shape of the mountains. Then we added the Matariki star constellation.
This is how mine turned out-

Do you find the Aurora Australis interesting?
That's all for now, bye!

This Weeks Post

Hello bloggers,

On Wednesday we are learning about Binary and ASCII.

Binary is a number system that uses 1’s and 0’s to represent all of our normal set of numbers. You can use the place values as multiples of 2 to work out how to do it for yourself! Try watching this video to give it a go yourself!

ASCII is set of encoded symbols that a computer uses to turn Binary into letters and other symbols from the English language (like what is on our keyboard). I turned my initials into binary numbers, and then turned those binary numbers into an ASCII code! Using colors to represent the 1’s and 0’s, my initials in ASCII can be represented by the pattern you see in my image below!

What do you think? Have you ever tried encoding anything in binary or ASCII?

And for Literacy we wrote a introduction for a horror story, it could be as short or as long as we wanted it to be, here's mine-

Pitter patter, rain lightly spat onto the roof, it was a dull Saturday morning, Jenny woke up to the sound of her alarm going off shrilly beside her, she reached over to turn it off when she heard a big thump coming from another room, Jenny lived alone but since she had only just woken up she brushed it off and continued to stopped her alarm and go back to sleep. BANG another loud noise came from her kitchen, she decided to get up and investigate, she walked out of her small, dark room and down her narrow hallway her short, dark curly hair bounced upon her shoulders, when she got to the end of the hallway she turned to the kitchen, she looked down at the floor, one of her beloved house plants had taken a fall from the kitchen counter to the cold tiles, the clay pot smashed all over the floors, who, or, what had done this? she thought to herself, she didn't have a pet, she was in the apartment alone, or so she thought…

Irony

Hello Readers,

For Inquiry we have still been looking at irony in world issues, there were 12 images and we had to write about one explaining why it was ironic, here's an example of irony in global warming

This is ironic because its being submerged by water because of global warming. Sea levels rising is a big part of global warming because the ice is melting. The ice is melting because the temperatures are getting warmer due to the global warming. This shows how global warming is a big issue and is happening fast.

That's all for this week, bye.

Ironic Comic

Hello bloggers,

For inquiry we have been focusing on world issues, we looked at irony, there are three different types of irony, Dramatic irony, Situational irony and Verbal irony, we had to create  comic which showed one of these, here's what me and my buddy, Daisy made.
"This is situational irony because you didn't expect her to get stung by a jellyfish right after she says
she likes jellyfish"

Do you know what all three types of irony mean?

Round Animals

Hello bloggers,

Today I drew a couple of round animals that were inspired by this video for a Friday task, here's the pictures I drew
I think that if a lizard were to be this size that it would struggle run around swiftly like they usually do
And if a bird was this size it probably would not be able to fly or at least would not be able to fly easily and it would probably struggle to stand too because their legs are so thin.

Are you excited to go back to school?

That's all for this week, bye!

Hedgecrow

Hello bloggers!

Today I created a creature for a task we had for our online schooling, on fridays we do different tasks than the usual, we get a couple of different choices and I chose to create my own animal, you could either mix diffrent animals to make a new species or you could make a new one all together, I chose to mix two diffrent ones, I chose to mix a Hedgehog and a Crow, Its called a Hedgecrow (my Mum came up with the name)  heres the steps I did to making it and how it turned out:
This is the messy sketch (though its probably one of my cleanest sketches I have ever done)
this is the slighly cleaner (but still messy) sketch
And last but not least, the finished drawing

Do you know any real animal hybrids? If so whats your favroute?

                                                            Thats all for now, bye!

Game Froot

Hello Bloggers,

For this activity, I made a game using Game Froot, it was quite simple and I only made a short game, I'm trying to put the link to it on here but it doesn't seem to work. if I figure it out I'll put the link on here but in the meantime try to make your own games on Game Froot, its easy and its fun.
Have you ever coded before?
Anyway, that's all for now, see you next time.

Super Symmetry

Kia ora Bloggers,

For this activity, I made symmetry with my name, I folded a piece of square paper, then I folded it in half, then again, then I folded it to make it into a triangle and wrote my name in sharpie and traced it in each of the triangles folded lines, after I finished I coloured it in making sure that I was colouring each of the same letters the same colour. here are the results:

Animal Crossing Artwork

Kia ora Bloggers,

This activity that I did was to create a piece of artwork by following a tutorial or to create your own, I decided to create my own. I didn't have any inspiration for anything to draw so I decided to draw an animal crossing character as a human. To be honest, I don't really like how it turned out but I decided to post it anyway considering it took 2+ hours to complete.
(The quality of the drawing and the colours of the drawing don't come out very well on here)

(Here's the speed draw, I couldn't get it upright sorry)

That's all, bye!

Terrific Tessellations

Hello Bloggers,

for this activity, I created a tessellation, a tessellation is an arrangement of shapes that are fitted together without overlapping or any gaps between the shapes, the one I created was quite simple and I decided to make it colourful to make it more interesting. (The flowers don't have anything to do with the shapes)
(I used the app Procreate to make it)

That's all For this post, stay safe!

Hello Bloggers,

This is a puzzle I made, I did it c couple of times to try and get faster, I ended up with one minute but the record for the puzzle was 7 seconds.
I did another one that took 33 minutes to do, it was 60 puzzle pieces but I lost the tab.
That's all for this post.

Beautiful Book Cover

Hello Bloggers.

Since we have to stay at home due to Covid-19 we have been asked to complete 3 tasks a day, for this task we had to create a book cover, I decided to make a  new book cover for Harry Potter and the Philosophers stone, here it is:

Super Samoan Numbers

Hello bloggers,

For the past few weeks on a Wednesday, we have been learning  Samoan, this week we got to programme something on scratch where you can ask a number between 1-10 and it will answer with the Samoan word for it, I find remembering the Samoan numbers quite easy because I know my Maori numbers and they're both quite similar. Can you count to ten in any other languages?

Anyway, here's what I made:

Instructions:
Ask the magical wizard toad a number from 1-10 and he will convert it into Samoan for you. If you ask a number above 10  or something irrelevant he will simply ignore you.

That's all for this post, See you next time!

Superb Samoan Numbers

Hello bloggers,

Today we made a video on how to count up to ten in  Samoan,  it's quite similar to the Maori numbers and pronunciation so it was not hard to learn. here's the video:

I made this with my Friend Daisy,

Do you know how to count to ten in Maori?

See you next time I post!

Beautiful Binary

Kia ora Bloggers,

On Wednesdays, we have been learning computer language (coding)
this is called binary coding, I created an image an then I made it into code:
0000000000
0011001100
0000000000
0001001000
0001001000
0000110000
0000110000
0000110000
0100000010
0110000110
0011111100
0001111000
0000000000

0000000000

The white in the picture are zero's and the black on the picture are ones, you can create a table on google docs and see what the picture I created is!

That's all for today, see you in my next post

My Special Sestina

Kia ora bloggers,

Today in literacy we learned how to write a Sestina poem this is how it works-
you write six sentences, each sentence has six words, the first sentence is something you saw, the second is something you remember, the third is a person you were with, fourth is something that you made up, the fifth is the reason you went on the journey, the last sentence is something completely random this is mine:

I saw the floating bubbles above

I remember the small pop sound

I looked across to Daisy’s bubble-hair

Majestic glowing jellyfish fell from clouds

I was hallucinating, losing air, Drowning

A dinosaur fell from the sky.

that's all for today, see you in my next post!

Interesting Identity

Hello readers,

for inquiry we have been looking at our family trees to see where we came from, here's mine
you can probably tell which flags are the Australian and New Zealand ones but in case you did not recognise the one with the red cross on it that is the flag of England and the red one with blue in the corner is the Samoan flag and the yellow and green one is the flag of India.

Do you have family that are not from New Zealand?

that is all for this week, see you next week

Special SPCA

Kia ora readers,

For inquiry we had to choose one of the local places to get help from and create a poster about it because its important to be aware of these places. I created this with my friend Kasey, here's the poster-
If you didn't know the SPCA is a charity and an animal shelter that rescues abandoned, abused and injured animals and once the animals have recovered they give them to new responsible owners.

Have you ever adopted an animal from the SPCA?

Personality Portrait

Kia ora everyone!

This is my first blog post for this year.

At the very start of this year, we had to draw a portrait of our selves using bright colours, drawings of things that we love (in the background) and a cartoony/abstract style, our inspiration was Romero Britto, though mine does not really look like his art at all.

I'm not particularly proud of my portrait, it's not even close to my best artwork but it was the best I could do for the time that I had.

as you can see on my drawing I love my four pets, to do art, reading, music, Netflix, seafood and I find marine biology interesting and I am from Australia.

do you like to draw?

See you next time I post!
