This Weeks Work

Hello Readers,

This week my friend, Daisy and I made a weeks shopping list for a family of four, we had a budget of
$170 dollars but 3 members of the family cannot eat certain foods, here's the slide we made to show our work -

For literacy we made a slide were we chose a Movie from the genre Film Noir and chose a movie (or series) from a different genre then we compared them and looked at what they had in common (the writing in the middle is the things they had in common)
I chose the Film Noir movie the Maltese Falcon and from another genre Sherlock(BBC), here's the slide-

Aurora Australis

Hello Readers,

Today we have been making  art of the Southern Lights\Aurora Australis, an Aurora is a display of lights in the sky, They are usually green but can be red or blue, Auroras are made by high energy particles from the sun that come down to earth, as they come closer they interact with with our planets magnetic field, the magnetic field pushes them toward the south and north magnetic poles.
We made our art by ripping some paper to look like a mountain range then we stuck it onto a black piece of paper, we flicked white paint onto the black paper by using a paint brush to make it look like stars, once the paint dried we got chalk pastels and coloured the ripped piece of paper and then smudged it onto the black piece of paper so you could see the shape of the mountains. Then we added the Matariki star constellation.
This is how mine turned out-

Do you find the Aurora Australis interesting?
That's all for now, bye!

This Weeks Post

Hello bloggers,

On Wednesday we are learning about Binary and ASCII.

Binary is a number system that uses 1’s and 0’s to represent all of our normal set of numbers. You can use the place values as multiples of 2 to work out how to do it for yourself! Try watching this video to give it a go yourself!

ASCII is set of encoded symbols that a computer uses to turn Binary into letters and other symbols from the English language (like what is on our keyboard). I turned my initials into binary numbers, and then turned those binary numbers into an ASCII code! Using colors to represent the 1’s and 0’s, my initials in ASCII can be represented by the pattern you see in my image below!

What do you think? Have you ever tried encoding anything in binary or ASCII?

And for Literacy we wrote a introduction for a horror story, it could be as short or as long as we wanted it to be, here's mine-

Pitter patter, rain lightly spat onto the roof, it was a dull Saturday morning, Jenny woke up to the sound of her alarm going off shrilly beside her, she reached over to turn it off when she heard a big thump coming from another room, Jenny lived alone but since she had only just woken up she brushed it off and continued to stopped her alarm and go back to sleep. BANG another loud noise came from her kitchen, she decided to get up and investigate, she walked out of her small, dark room and down her narrow hallway her short, dark curly hair bounced upon her shoulders, when she got to the end of the hallway she turned to the kitchen, she looked down at the floor, one of her beloved house plants had taken a fall from the kitchen counter to the cold tiles, the clay pot smashed all over the floors, who, or, what had done this? she thought to herself, she didn't have a pet, she was in the apartment alone, or so she thought…

Irony

Hello Readers,

For Inquiry we have still been looking at irony in world issues, there were 12 images and we had to write about one explaining why it was ironic, here's an example of irony in global warming

This is ironic because its being submerged by water because of global warming. Sea levels rising is a big part of global warming because the ice is melting. The ice is melting because the temperatures are getting warmer due to the global warming. This shows how global warming is a big issue and is happening fast.

That's all for this week, bye.

This is the link to the site.

Ironic Comic

Hello bloggers,

For inquiry we have been focusing on world issues, we looked at irony, there are three different types of irony, Dramatic irony, Situational irony and Verbal irony, we had to create  comic which showed one of these, here's what me and my buddy, Daisy made.
"This is situational irony because you didn't expect her to get stung by a jellyfish right after she says
she likes jellyfish"

Do you know what all three types of irony mean?

That's all for now, Bye!
